Touch Talk Therapy
“Rubenfeld Synergy is an integrative somatic therapy designed to meet each part of us with compassion, presence, and safety, soothing the nervous system and allowing for new movement and awareness.
The method used by Rubenfeld Synergists centers on the understanding that the body and mind are integrated and inseparable, thus we use the term bodymind.
Our bodymind speaks to us through how we move, hold our bodies, experience pleasure and pain, relate to others.
Synergists teach us to notice the language and metaphors of our nervous system and how, with awareness, they can guide us to greater physical and emotional freedom.”
In a Rubenfeld Synergy Method® session, emotional and psycho-spiritual processing are fully integrated with the somatic patterns in order to harmonize the Bodymind.”

What is it?
What to expect as a client:
Sessions are done in the privacy of one’s home or in a therapeutic room, and it is discussed with the client before the meeting.
Clients lie fully clothed on a bodywork table or sit in a chair.
Sessions are confidential.
Before touching and at the beginning of the session, the synergist will express verbally that there is touch involved in the session; however, the client has full power to stop touch and the session whenever they want, with or without reason.
Synergists are present with an intention of safety, support, and listening.
Synergists use light, sensitive touch and compassionate dialogue, simultaneously, to track a client’s total bodymind communication.
The Synergists reflect these expressions back to their clients, thereby increasing a client’s awareness of incongruities between what they are saying, what they are feeling, and what they are doing. Through this process, a client’s “truth” is articulated more and more clearly and can then become an integrated and harmonious expression.
Nereyda & Rubenfeld Synergy
I started working with a Rubenfeld Synergist in 2020 as I moved back to my family’s home after living in Vietnam for about a year.
The pandemic was just starting, and the quarantine and stay-at-home rules were getting real.
I resisted the somatic sessions at first due to thinking that I was just going through at home were simple family problems that weren’t in need of any therapeutic work or sessions.
However, that was not the case.
What I thought were simple family problems, through these somatic sessions, made me aware that there was an enmeshed presence between my parents and me.
I was afraid to say “no” to them; I had this picture that I was desperately trying to hold up of being a “good” daughter, and it was causing me internal conflict. I had poor boundaries and poor ways of speaking up for myself and communicating with them. Their emotional reactions were draining for me, and little did I know that the way it took me down was not healthy.
These sessions eventually led me to work through one of the biggest wounds of my life,
being relinquished as a toddler.
What I thought was over and done with, and I was filled with gratitude over, actually led me to work on deep anger, trust issues, the concept of “truth”, my abandonment wounds, and feeling unwanted.
Getting the chills as I write this, but it led me to such transformative and long-lasting change; these sessions connected me deeper to myself more than any meditation or yoga session combined.
As my Rubenfeld Synergist opened up her own course to train others this modiality, best believe that I was eager to jump on the commitment and train in this modality.
These sessions as a client has provided such freedom, inner peace but like REAL inner peace, Presence in the world that I feel called and eager to share it with the world
